Very few artists are fortunate enough to have longevity and sadly, this is even more true in R&B past the early-mid 80s or so. I think this is strange that those guys seemed to just be in the stratosphere one minute then obscure 90s nostalgia dudes the next minute. I think it has more to do with how the music industry (in my opinion) deliberately does things to sabotage artists into speeding up their own demise. Cause they not making money just on album sales no more, they understand that people download. Interscope don’t want to release us because they want all these demands around our contract and we not willing to give up, and all this stuff. Like, Jodeci is stuck in a contract with Interscope. When did Jodeci sign a deal w/ Interscope? They couldn't even get a e.p.? MCA & Suge Knight have made the Degrate brothers untrusting of anything. That Devante interview was rather strange from 2 years ago, he doesn't sound like he even wants to deal w/ another contract. I refuse to believe that Devante is just sitting in an alley on a cocktail of ecstasy/heroin/cocaine/meth completely out of his mind.
WHat the hell is going on? I see Kci and Jojo are about to release another duo album, forget a Jodeci album. You can't say drugs to the answer of the question, Jodeci must really have the most horrible deal not even release anything this long. Does anyone know why nothing came out other than feature collabs? Jodeci's management must be horrible because they don't even want to release anything from the past near two decades. If Dalvin is telling the truth that Devante is in the studio every night, they must have a crazy amount of music. But they just stopped after that? MCA must have been pissed after investing that much money in this group and they were like "We are going to take a hiatus" For close to two decades? Did Jojo & Kci duo really give them the outĬould it be that MCA didn't want to deal w/ the fact that they had total control of their production/songwriters & didn't need any outside assistance? Dalvin says they recorded 200 songs and w/ those 200 songs you would think they would be able to pick 12 to make a fine comeback album. I've been thinking recently Jodeci did three projects in 5 years.
